If you would like to transfer a domain name from one domain registrar to another, you’ll have to go through a few safety steps. One of them is getting a special EPP code from the present domain name registrar – provided that you are the domain registrant, since the code is emailed to the owner's mailbox and nobody else can see it. You have to provide this code to the new registrar company, or else they will not be able to initiate the domain transfer procedure. The EPP authorization codes are case-sensitive and may include digits or special characters such as commas or dots, which can be easily mistyped, so make sure you copy and paste the correct code. As an extra safety measure, the transfer code for a domain name may be altered on a regular basis. Certain companies refer to this code as a domain secret, a domain password or an Auth key as well.
EPP Transfer Protection in Shared Website Hosting
If you’ve got a domain name registered through us and you have a shared website hosting account with us, obtaining its EPP authentication code is astonishingly easy. You won’t need to sign in and out of different Control Panel tools, as you can administer all your domain names via the same Hepsia Control Panel, which is used to administer your shared hosting account. You’ll see all existing domain names as soon as you log in and on the right side of the domains whose extensions require an EPP transfer code in order to be transferred, you will see a tiny EPP icon. All it takes to get that code is to click the icon. The code is always emailed to the domain name registrant’s mailbox, so if the one that you gave at first is not valid any longer, you can edit it with a couple of clicks of the mouse from the very same section.
EPP Transfer Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you register a domain under a semi-dedicated server account with us, you’ll be able to obtain its EPP transfer code with just one click of the mouse, in case you decide to move it to another registrar company. All it takes to do that is to sign in to your Hepsia hosting Control Panel, to navigate to the Registered Domains section and to click on the EPP button, which will be next to the domain. Of course, such a button will be there only if the respective gTLD or ccTLD extension supports transfers with an EPP code. Within one minute, an email that includes the EPP code will be sent to the domain name owner’s email address associated with that domain name. You can edit the latter through the exact same section of the Control Panel – in case the one that’s presently listed in the WHOIS details is not valid. Since the update will take effect without delay, you can request the EPP code directly after that.
